Step-by-Step Sewing Instructions:
Part 1: Creating the Pattern & Cutting the Fabric
Measure Your Bottle: Measure the circumference and height of your water bottle.
Create the Pattern:
Bag Body: The width of the rectangle should be the circumference of your bottle plus 1 inch (2.5 cm) for seam allowance. The height should be the height of your bottle plus 2 inches (5 cm) for seam allowance and a hem.
Bag Base: The diameter of the circle should be the diameter of your bottle plus 1 inch (2.5 cm) for seam allowance.
Cut the Fabric: Use your pattern pieces to cut the main fabric and the lining fabric.
Part 2: Sewing the Bag Body
Take your two main fabric body pieces. Place them right sides together.
Pin and sew along the two side seams, leaving the top and bottom open.
Turn the bag body right side out.
Repeat steps 1-3 with your two lining body pieces. Do not turn the lining body right side out.
Part 3: Attaching the Base
Take your main fabric bag body (which is right side out) and your main fabric base piece.
Pin the circular base to the bottom opening of the bag body, with right sides facing each other. This is the trickiest part, so take your time and pin carefully.
Sew all the way around the circle to attach the base.
Repeat steps 1-3 with your lining fabric.
Part 4: Making the Strap
Take your strap fabric piece. Fold it in half lengthwise, right sides together, and sew a seam along the long edge.
Turn the strap right side out and press it flat. Topstitch along both long edges for a professional finish.
Part 5: Final Assembly
Place the outer bag right side out on a flat surface.
Pin the ends of the strap to the top of the outer bag, about 1 inch (2.5 cm) down from the top edge.
Take the lining bag (which is still inside out) and slide it over the outer bag. The right sides of the outer bag and the lining should be facing each other. The strap will be sandwiched in between the layers.
Pin the top edges of the outer bag and the lining together, making sure the strap is securely pinned in place.
Sew all the way around the top edge, leaving a small opening for turning.
Turn the entire bag right side out through the opening you left.
Push the lining into the outer bag.
Press the top edge of the bag, making sure the seam is hidden.
Topstitch all the way around the top of the bag to close the opening and give it a professional finish.
